back again with new adventures

I have been on a hiatus from my blog for the past 3 weeks with so much happening.  Ignoring my blog was not my intention but as you know life happens and we need to just stop and focus on what we can do for that moment.

There are great things ahead for me this year and I will make sure to share them with you as my journey continues.  The near horizon has moving in sight as well as some exciting consulting opportunities and a business venture.   I guess I should have known that being a stay at home mom and not doing anything else wouldn’t last long!!

women’s day – a time for all moms to celebrate

Having been a working mom for many years and recently taking the leap into being a stay at home mom, I have to wonder is the other side really what I thought it would be like.   Being a working mom I envied the SAHM who got to spend so much time with their kids and didn’t have the stress of deadlines and always feeling like you never really had time for yourself.  I saw those moms as the lucky ones, the ones who had all the time in the world to work out, cook amazing dinners for their families and have real quality time with their kids.  Now, don’t get me wrong I did enjoy what I did but that other world of being a SAHM seemed intriguing.  I could never understand stay at home moms who said their days were so busy and that didn’t get a lot done.  Really – how was this possible when they had BeFunky_womens-day_1100011696-1013int.jpg
an entire day to do what they want?

After being a SAHM for the past month I definitely see the world differently and have to acknowledge that days are very busy.  Where do those hours go between getting the kids on the school bus and picking them up?  I am enjoying being at home and love the time I have to blog but it really is a busy day.  Yes, I do have more time for trail walks, lunch with my girlfriends and not being on email 10 hours a day but I now understand what many of those moms meant.

I am not sure if there is a secret war between us stay at home moms and working moms but what I can say having been on both sides is that neither is perfect.  You have to figure out what works for you, what makes you happy and where your passions are.   March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day for women to stand together and ensure the future for young girls is bright.  So  here’s to all the moms – whether you are a SAHM or Working Mom you really are all inspirational and you all make a difference to those around you.
